Breast, Endocrine and General Surgery

Dr Michael Whitlaw is breast, endocrine and general surgeon specialising in oncoplastic & reconstructive breast surgery. He also has a special interest in endocrine surgery specifically minimally invasive retroneoscopic adrenalectomy 

​

Dr Whitlaw completed a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science at the University of Waterloo, ON, Canada. He then completed his postgraduate medical degree at Flinders University and completed his general surgical training and obtain his FRACS in South Australia. During his surgical training he obtained GESA accreditation for colonoscopy. 

​

Dr Whitlaw furthered his fellowship training in breast and oncoplastic surgery. He completed an unaccredited year at the Lyell McEwin Hospital followed by being accepted into post-graduate BreastSurg ANZ fellowship program. He completed his first year at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital SA, followed by a second year at Auckland City Hospital NZ furthering his skills in oncoplastic and breast reconstructive surgery.

After completion of his post fellowship BreastSurg ANZ credentials Dr Whitlaw accepted an appointment to work as a breast, endocrine and general surgery consultant at across the Lyell Mcewin Hospital and Modbury Hospital where he continues to work. During this time, he was awarded a Senior Lecturer Credential from Flinders University for his contribution to teaching.

Dr Whitlaw also works a visiting specialist at BreastScreen SA.

​

Michael regularly attends conferences to ensure ongoing professional development. He is also keen on teaching and ongoing surgical development.
